Anatomy of a Knitted Sock

Sock Anatomy 101:  Learn to Knit Socks (Cuff Down)

2 Classes, 4 hours in total

Dates: Tuesdays, 7th & 14th May 2013, 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Cost: €50 (includes yarn). Please bring a set of 2.5mm double pointed needles

or these may be purchased at The Constant Knitter.

Handknit socks may appear complex, but once you break them down to their basic

elements, they are simple and straightforward.  If you can knit and want to

demystify the techniques of ”turning a heel” and ”toe shaping” then this a great

class to start with.

In the first class, you will start with a mini sock using double pointed needles.

Then in the 2nd class, you will easily transfer the skills used in knitting the mini

sock to confidently knit your first pair of socks.

A €20 deposit is required at time of booking.

Victorian Spinning Wheel

Victorian Spinning Wheel

Mervyn from Yeats Country Antiques on Francis St brought this over to the shop a few days ago to let it hang out here a while.   It is only 30″ high.  The picture really doesn’t do it justice – it’s patina is truly beautiful.  I think it might need some work though……

Tuesday Felt Class – make a teacosy!

Hand Felted Teacosy

Niki will be showing students how to make felted tea cosies next Tuesday (15 January 2013)  morning and evening.  Tea cosies are, in my opinion, so beautiful and practical.  You can bring along any decorations  you’d like to add, for example buttons, beads, ribbon or any little thing that is precious to you.

Another great reason for making tea cosies is to support The Constant Knitter Tea Cosy Competition!  The proceeds of the competition will go St Bridgid’s Primary School in Dublin 8.  (Actually the tea cosies can be made however you like – knit, crochet, felt, sew, quilt – in fact whatever you want to do is ok with us).  And for the coffee drinkers, caffetiere cosies are also welcome.

Details of the competition and entry forms can be downloaded from www.theconstantknitter.ie – just get the cosies to us by 31 January.  They will go on display here in early February and there will be prizes!

Cost for the class, including materials, is E30.  Please bring a big towel and bubble wrap if you have it.

To enrol, please contact Rosemary on 087 996 7197 or info@theconstantknitter.ie
