Anatomy of a Knitted Sock

Sock Anatomy 101:  Learn to Knit Socks (Cuff Down)

2 Classes, 4 hours in total

Dates: Tuesdays, 7th & 14th May 2013, 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Cost: €50 (includes yarn). Please bring a set of 2.5mm double pointed needles

or these may be purchased at The Constant Knitter.

Handknit socks may appear complex, but once you break them down to their basic

elements, they are simple and straightforward.  If you can knit and want to

demystify the techniques of ”turning a heel” and ”toe shaping” then this a great

class to start with.

In the first class, you will start with a mini sock using double pointed needles.

Then in the 2nd class, you will easily transfer the skills used in knitting the mini

sock to confidently knit your first pair of socks.

A €20 deposit is required at time of booking.

Artesano Definition Sock yarn. 75% Merino

Artesano Definition Sock yarn. 75% Merino

The new Artesano Definition Sockyarn arrived here finally yesterday after a 2-month wait!  It is beautifully spun for maximum stitch definition for all knit and crochet projects.  Really amazing colours which is no surprise from Artesano.  Ideal for kids clothes also.  It is a blend of machine washable Merino wool (for softness) and 25% polyamide for strength.  It comes in 100g hanks which are each 400m long so most sock and small projects can be made from one hank.  There is also pattern support with sock patterns and accessories.  This yarn is also ideal for children’s garments, being soft and strong.  In short, a really versatile yarn.
