Learn how to create striking pieces using a variety of fibres and fabrics. Flower Brooches, Rasta Ropes, Easter Nests and Nuno Cushions. Have great fun with the versatile and exciting technique of feltmaking. Wet felting is a great craft to learn and will open limitless possibilites for you. Each project can be enjoyed regardless of whether you are a beginner or an experienced feltmaker. This series of Felt Workshops will celebrate all the great festivals of the season: Beginning of Spring, First of April, Easter, and May day.
Your facilitator will be Niki Collier, an accomplished textile designer and member of Feltmakers Ireland, who teaches this medium with passion.
You can do one class for €25 or all four for the price of three.
Felt Flowers 10.30 to 12.30 Friday 23rd of March €25
Celebrate the beginning of Spring by creating a unique multi-layered felt flower using a selection of fibres and yarn. All materials and tools are included. Just bring your Spring flair and enjoy the fun. A surprise awaits all the participants.
Rasta Ropes 10.30 – 12.30 Friday 30th of March €25
Do something outrageous – adorn your hair, your neck or your writs with sensuous felt ropes. There are various ways to make ropes and Niki would show some of the ways that she loves most. A special interest for experienced felters will be to learn the technique used by Lisa Klakulak, which Niki mastered with her at Felt in Focus Symposium, Denmark. Be ready for the photoshoot at the end of the class.
Easter Nests 10.30 – 12.30 Friday 6th of April €25
Do you have somewhere to put your Easter Eggs? Come and create an Easter Nest for your Easter eggs using Galway wool, one of the few registered Irish breeds raised by the Wool Initiative Group. Our nest can then be used as a jewellery box or purse.
Nuno Cushion 10.30 – 12.30 Friday 13th of April €25
A cushion made just for you. Using some of The Constant Knitter yarn and some gentle merino fibres we will create a colourful felt cushion which will be the centrepiece of your living room.
