Fine Fish AND Jamieson’s of Shetland

Monday, April 18th, 2016

It’s been a very busy week here with two new and very significant arrivals.

Firstly a consignment of hand dyed 75/25 Merino/Nylon sockyarn from Fine Fish Yarns – absolutely delightful colours bound up in 50g pocket skeins.  Ideal for gifts.

Fine Fish Yarns

Then a day later, a huge consignment of Spindrift arrived from Jamieson’s of Shetland.  68 colours ……..  Perfect for fairisle and all kinds of colour work.

Shetland Spindrift is a native wool grown in Shetland, uniquely spun in Sandness. This colour range is born from the natural shades of fleece grown by the unique breed of Shetland sheep. The names come from the strong dialect. Shetland yarn has a low carbon footprint as the fleeces are bought from local crofters and travel no more than 80 miles from source to the mill where all the processes are carried out under the same roof.
Shetland Spindrift is a 2ply jumper weight yarn equivalent to 4ply. This yarn is traditionally used for Fair Isle knitting and comes in stunning contemporary colours.

Perfect for sweaters, hats, mittens, tea cosies, scarves etc

NEW Adriafil Top Ball

Saturday, April 11th, 2015
Adriafil Top Ball

Adriafil Top Ball

New from Adriafil! Top Ball – 200g giving you 500m of DK yarn.

This very soft yarn consists of 55% Merino wool and 45% Acrylic. A really inexpensive but gorgeous yarn. Very affordable for blankets and afghans and other big garments. 11 colours so far but we’ll add lots more shortly.  Only e11.20 for 200g which is only e2.80 for 50g.

Schoppel Cashmere Queen

Sunday, January 25th, 2015
Cashmere Queen

Cashmere Queen

Lots of this was bought even while we were unpacking it!

These are the strangest looking balls of yarn ever.  Schoppel Cashmere Queen is made up of a blend of cashmere, silk, and wool combined in a single ply yarn with no twist.  This is due to Schoppel Wolle having a patented technique that just slightly fulls or felts the yarn, creating a single ply, made up of the blended fibres, that resists the normal pilling associated with it.  It also enhances stitch definition.

It blooms when you knit it.  Then when you wash it, it blooms even more making the halo more pronounced.

It comes in some very beautiful colours and, with a very generous 140m in a 50g ball, there is plenty for a super soft hat or pair of mittens.
