I’ve just seen that Irish Design Shop, www.irishdesignshop.com, Bow Lane East (just around the corner from Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre) is selling a series of DVDs called Hands – documentaries on traditional Irish crafts and lifestyles where the emphasis is on the skills of human hands rather than on machines. These were made by David & Sally Shaw-Smith between 1978 and 1991. Topics include Wool Spinning, Irish Patchwork, Irish Lace, Irish Embroidery, Donegal Weavers, Irish Spinningwheel Making etc.
